Tigers
One of the more heated Covington County rival games will
continue this year as 2A Red Level begins preparation for their
round 1 playoff game in two weeks. Florala was defeated by
Kinston last Friday 68-0, while Red Level was being defeated by
2A #1 Elba, 48-14.
Red Level and Florala took 2 years off after the 2005 season,
but the Tigers have won 8 of the last 9 meetings. Florala
still holds a two game lead over Red Level in the series, 27-25.
The first game between the schools was in 1921, won by Florala
7-6. The Wildcats won 8 of the first 10 contest
between the two rival schools, but Red Level won the next three
during the late 50's including the teams
1957 Championship season.
The game will be held in Florala this season.
