Week 2
Florala had their second biggest
production in a season opener in the school's history dating back to
1914. Their largest margin of victory was during the 1920's, a
56-0 win over Rawls and until
last
Friday had scored over 50 points only one other time. Doug
Vickery's 2004 squad that posted 56 - equalling the record.
Florala's 52-26 win over Central Hayneville
did a lot for the Wildcats to erase the past five losing seasons and
continuing Coach Jones task of getting Florala back into the playoffs
for the first time since 2007.
Austin McNeill led the
Wildcats in the romp and scored 3 times running and twice
throwing the ball not to include the 8 points added in 2-point
conversions - three throwing to sophomore
Tamaris Jamison.
The Wildcats have not won two
in a row since the 2007 team and Geneva County is the favorite
to defeat the young Wildcats, but Florala has only allowed 12
points in the second half in their Jamboree and season opener.
Geneva County has started the
season 0-1, but also fell in their jamboree to 2A Samson, 22-16.
