The Opp Bobcats need a little help this
week from Pike County, but need to take care of business at home
to solidify their playoff hopes. A win by the Bobcats and
a loss by Luverne doesn't guarantee Opp a playoff spot, but a
loss by Opp and a win by Luverne would knock the Bobcats out for
certain.
Tonight's game with Abbeville is as much a must win for both
teams as any this season. Abbeville could stay on track to
win the region and remained tied with Daleville and Pike County,
all with 5-1 region records.
Pike County defeated Abbeville, but lost to Daleville.
Abbeville and Daleville play next Friday to end their region
play. If Abbeville wins out they will host a first round
playoff game and can finish no worse than second.
Opp is 3-2 in region play with a loss to Luverne (13-7) and Pike
County (28-26). The Bobcats other two losses are to 2A #1
Elba and 4A #9 Straughn both a combined 13-1.
While Abbeville's last two wins were over teams with a combined
2-12 and a non-region win over 2A Barbour County (3-4), their
best win may be season opener 5A Eufaula (5-2).
Opp's schedule strength is stronger than Abbeville, but the
visiting squad is a 10 point favorite over the Bobcats.
