Opp falls to Kinston Bulldogs

The Opp Lady Bobcats traveled to Kinston Tuesday for a three game set.  The Lady Bulldogs showed their dominanence in the sport as the JR High - JV teams both fell and the Varsity lost a five game classic.

 

The varsity girls were tied with Kinston 18-18 in game one until the Lady Bulldogs struck for a six point rally to put them ahead 24-18 en route to a 25-21 win.

Opp looked to even the series in game two dominating the game until being overtaken in the final stages as Kinston forced sudden death and swiped game two from Opp 26-24.

 

Opp made quick work of the Lady Bulldogs in game three picking up a convincing 25-14 win and then as Kinston appeared to have game four and the series in hand - Opp showed a little comeback magic of their own.

 

The Lady Bobcats used a six point rally to overtake Kinston and win the game 25-22 forcing a deciding game five. The final game was tied up at 9-9 until Kinston struck for five points putting them just one point away from the win.

 

Opp battled back to pull to within one points at 14-13, but the Lady Bulldogs got the game's final point to win the game 15-13 and the series three games to two.

The JV team played in the middle set of games and were down 15-10 in game one. Kinston then reeled off ten straight points to put the first game away 25-10. In the second game the Lady Bobcats once again found themselves in a hole as Kinston matched two points for everyone of theirs. Opp fell to Kinston in straight sets dropping game two 25-12.

The JR High team's first two game swere as different as night and day. In the first game Kinston scored 19 of the game's first 20 points en route to a 25-6 win. In game two Opp turned the tables opening up an 11-4 lead on Kinston and holding on for a 25-18 win tying the series. In the deciding game three Kinston pulled ahead 9-3 to start the game. Opp got as close as four points at 13-9, but Kinston scored the next two points for a 15-9 win.
