Hosting Privileges on the Line

Only one win stood between the Opp Volleyball team and a chance to host the 2012 Class 3A Area 2 tournament. Opp needed a win over the Straughn Lady Tigers to host this year's tournament.  Straughn was looking for a win in order to force a tiebreaker.

The Lady Bobcats went to work quickly in the first game jumping out to a 12-3 lead. Straughn managed just one rally of three or more points and Opp won the first game 25-12. The second game was closer until the score stood 9-6 in Opp's favor. The Lady Bobcats went on an eight point run to go on top 17-8. Another four point rally closed the game and Opp won once again 25-12. One five and one seven point rally put game three out of reach as quickly as it began. Opp forged out to a 13-2 lead and never looked back dominating the game 25-11 and the sweeping the series three games to none. With the win Opp will host this year's area tournament.

The first game of the JV series was tight with neither team leading by more than three points until the final moments. Straughn led 17-15 before going on a critical four point rally for a 21-15 lead. The Lady Tigers struck for four more in their next rally to win game one 25-16. Game two was even tighter as Opp led by one 16-15 before Straughn scored an important four point rally. Opp pulled to within just one at 22-21, but Straughn rallied for three points to win the second game 25-21 and the series two games to none.
