Red Level @ Southern Choctaw
Southern Choctaw was a short dynasty
in the late 90's winning three titles in five season's (1998, 1999,
2002) - going 59-8 through the span. The team lost the title
in 2005 to Clay County going 14-1, but the Indians haven't been to the
post season since 2006 after the departure of former head coach Larry
Boykin. Jeremy Noland enters his second season as the head coach
going 4-6 last season and 8-2 this year.
The Red Level Tigers have
faced New Brockton 7 times with three wins. Their first
meeting was in the 2001 first round with Red Level winning
21-15. The Tigers won the next meeting in 2004 and again
in 2006, but the last three meetings have all been won by
Southern Choctaw during region play.
This season the teams are in
different regions when Red Level moved to 2A region 2.
Southern Choctaw lost two of their first three games before
going on a 7-0 run and finishing the regular season 8-2.
For Red Level, the Tigers are coached by Tony Ingram who
finished 2-8 his first season, before guiding Red Level back
into the playoffs for the first time since 2006.
