The Straughn Tigers and the
Ashford Yellowjackets battle for the second seed of 4A region 2
with the loser having to travel to 4A region 1 second seed in
the first round of the playoffs. The loser will face
either Jackson or Thomasville who also play Friday Night.
Straughn rebounded after
their 0-10 loss to Andalusia defeating Headland, 48-6, while
Ashford fell to the Bulldogs 20-21 last Friday. The
Tigers and Yellowjackets now face for the second seed in 4A
region 2 and will host the third place team from region 1 after
week 10.
Both teams are very similar
in offensive and defense production with Straughn holding a
collective 3 point advantage. Straughn is averaging nearly
300 yards rushing a game and 75 yards passing in enough variety
to keep opposing teams concerned about the pass, while run is
the major weapon for the Tigers.
Josh Dewrell leads the team
in rushing touchdowns as the teams senior quarterback.
Dewrell has half the rushing touchdowns and has added 7 passing.
The senior has added 25 extra points, a field goal and two
2-point conversions.
