Straughn vs. 3A Opp

The Tigers are coming off a
dramatic come from behind win after trailing twice against 4A
Hillcrest (2-2; 1-2) in a critical region contest. Opp
picked up a even bigger win over Geneva - keeping the Bobcats
near the top of 3A region 2 for the second half of the season.
Straughn returns home for the
first game in the Tigers' den since a hard fought 30-27 win over
St. James in week two.
Opp has lost two games to 2A
#2 Elba and region foe Luverne in defensive battles and Opp
having a chance in the end to win either of these two contest.
Their biggest win of the season for Opp was week two's 21-2
victory over Daleville (3-1; 2-1), especially after Daleville's
53-28 victory over Luverne still leaves the Bobcats with a
chance to host a first round playoff victory.
Last year's Opp - Straughn
contest was a turning point for the Tigers after falling 7-20 to
the Bobcats. It was the second straight loss for Straughn,
but the Tigers won seven straight following the victory by the
Bobcats making it to the third round of the playoffs.
This season, Straughn should
be another tough battle with the Bobcats in the season's second
non-region battle. Both teams have faced Geneva and the
outcomes were relatively the same. The Panthers
(Geneva) third loss was to Abbeville (3-1; 2-1) who lost last
week to
3A #7 Pike County.
