FLORALA
WILDCATS WEEKLY PREVIEW
Alabama High
School Athletic Association
Week 6
Florala Wildcats @ JF Shields
Florala was anticipating coming into the game with their second
win of the season and hopeful of a second half playoff run with
Shields, Kinston, and Geneva County as potential opportunities
to win - however after Saturday's loss to JU Blacksher the
Wildcats lost twice in the game. Along with the 6-28 loss
Blacksher, Florala will now have one player that could be lost
for the season as senior Zach Fleming went down with a knee
injury.
"We won't know for sure until it's examined by a doctor, but it
appears to be a potential ACL injury," said head coach Chris
Buckler after the Saturday game.
"We came together as a team in the second half," said Buckler
after the Wildcats fell behind 22-0 at halftime. Florala
scored during a very physical second half when starting
quarterback Austin McNeill went down with a temporary injury and
Hunter Oswald came in as quarterback. The junior saw and
opportunity and took the ball up center and 20 yards for a
touchdown.
"The defense spread out to cover the corner and I just took it
over the middle," said Oswald after the game.
Florala and JF Shields are two very equal teams facing each
other in week 6. The battle will be around which defense
can contain the opposing team's corners. Florala will need
to control the ball and running attack with control passes on
the corners.
