Hoover had a big win over last week's #4 team
Gadsden City and moves into the second half region play looking like
the State Champ. Region 6 Vestavia is waiting and counting,
but must take care of business. Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa is
quietly moving up the polls and out of site of the sportswriters.

Class
5A
For the second week in a row - Class 5A is on task for moving as
five teams were defeated in matches last week leaving only one
undefeated team in Class 5A. Our #1 vote went to Fort Payne -
and although the team will not hold the position long - it was
simple for the last team to loss a game. FPayne does
have quality wins over region 7, Southside-Gad. and region 6,
Cullman.

CLASS 4A
Region 1's Jackson and Thomasville gets more interesting every week
after Jackson's win over 2A Leroy last Friday. Straughn
maintains their position at #1 in the Program23.com poll - while
holding at #4 in the sportswriters poll. Andalusia fell out
after dropping in a one-sided win by TR Miller.

CLASS 3A
Bayside Academy remained at #5 and are moving into a difficult
second half schedule although the Admirals have already shocked with
a win over TR Miller. It would be Bayside's first region title
if the team can hold out and go undefeated. Miller
defeated 4A undefeated Andalusia on the Bulldogs home field and
looked like the Tigers of old rather than a team with two loses.
Pike County fell to Goshen, who many consider a stronger team in 2A
region 2 than Elba - although falling to the Tigers 19-21. 3A
is onward to be a very competitive and evenly matched post season at
this point.
